Reinstalling Windows XP, what do I need?

    Hey All,

need some advice on reinstalling XP. I have a self built HTPC that has been running XP for last 3 years fine, but it is starting to get a little slow and the network is constantly acting up (will only transfer 400Mb, then stop for a few min, then repeats!?). So I want to format and fresh install XP over the weekend.

I built the computer myself 3 years ago and I have no idea which XP CD or Serial Key I used to install first day. I did some Googleing and found Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder, so I have recovered my valid Serial Key.

So my question is, what CD should I use (download) to reinstall XP? When I goto My Computer -> Properties it shows "OEM" in one of the strings (picture). Can I download any version of XP Professional? Or do I have to download some special OEM variant?

Just a bit cautious about reinstalling, as last time I tried to reinstall XP on my old laptop, using the original Dell branded XP - SP1 CD that came with laptop, it would not accept the Serial Key from the sticker on the bottom of the laptop!! My current Key is valid, just want to keep it that way!:)

Thanks in advance for the help.

You're just confusing me with all of that dude! To be honest, you could contact Microsoft Ireland (to waste some of your time beecause they wouldn't help you out... ...), or else you could just do the install and see how it goes. Make sure you install all of the Service packs before you start loading applications onto it though
