I'm heading to to New York at Xmas for a few days and need a good waterproof suit, I don't see the recognised brands like Galvin Green or Gore Tex etc on the american websites. Does anyone know a good american brand, Im assuming that the clothing will be much cheaper over there or would I better off buying from the UK.

zero restriction are quality, ping, footjoy, callaway are all decent too. You'll find retail in New York isn't that cheap, better off finding a deal on the web and getting it shipped to where you will be to make a good saving.

I purchased my Nike wet gear (suit) as well as a good top and trousers for $240. Not cheap but great value and over the past summer, the wet suit has been excellent.

The wet suits that I had seen were all good quality so no real deals but as it rains alot around NYC, they need good suits ( I would not look for wet suits in Florida ;-)).

You'll get a cheaper FJ wet suit on onlinegolf.co.uk at the moment. They are selling last seasons gear very cheap. Stores in the states will have new season stuff that will cost way more. I was in California this summer & found the FJ wet suits very pricey.

Have a Sunice goretex suit myself, not cheap but won't let a drop in.

By the sounds of it the states ain't gonna be the cheap golf place that I was led to believe, think I might as well buy a suit in McGuirk.

I visited New York 2years ago with the same plan.
I only found 2 golf shops in Manhattan - one upstairs not so friendly expensive place and the other on a street behind Maceys.
I purchased a Zero Restriction there approx 300 dollars as far as i remember- not the cheapest but a fantastic piece of kit. It's the Traveller Lite model.
BTW I did engage in a bit of old fashioned Irish bargaining which worked.
Your other option is in the outlet centres - I presume you'll be dragged to them too !!!
