Swimming Lessons

Does anyone know of anyone in the Waterford City area that does 1 - 1 lessons for adults??

I have done a couple of beginners courses before and I can kind of swim. My back stroke is okay (for a beginner like) and I can do the mecanics of the front crawl except for breathing (which is obviously pretty important)....even when I do manage to get a breath its not a proper amount if that makes sense and breast stroke is so bad its laughable!

The reason I am looking for a few 1 - 1 lessons is that I feel I am too advanced for a beginners class where people can't float and are afraid to let go of the edge etc (this describtion is based on experience and not meant to offend) but at the same time, I would be pretty lost in any improvers classes due largely to the pathetic nature of my breast stroke and in ability to breath properly in front crawl. So if I could get a few lessons that would bring me up to improvers level then I could join a class.

I believe they do 1 to 1 in the Kingfisher.

Also, in the Crystal they do beginners 1 and 2 and also improvers. Or at least they used to. I learned there a few years ago.

If you are not capable of breathing for instance, they will send you down to beginners 2 (some basic swimming experience). If you cannot breathe yet I think thats what you should do. You will never improve if you cannot breathe properly. Beginners 2 focusses on breathing.

The improvers level focusses on lengths and treading water etc. so I'd say it's a bit advanced for you.

    Hope this helps.:)

No problem! I think each round of classes takes about 8 weeks but might be a good idea to drop in anyway. :)

I was lucky when I learned as there were only a couple of us. Started off with 8 or so but dwindled after the first week. Often happens.

just read this thread as looking to get swimming lessons. I've rang KF and Waterford Crystal and people were meant to ring me back but never did :(

Does anyone know when these or on, how much they are and how long they run for? Sick of sitting on the sidelines watching people swim like fish
