The whole selling point of that laptop is being "slim and light", so it's not built to be a gaming machine. I'd say you'd get away with minimum specs and low resolution though(I'm not really a gamer, so that's only my guess!). If gaming was a priority i'd search elsewhere.

here's some benches for the card: http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-ATI-Mobility-Radeon-HD-4530.13972.0.html

not the weakest for that price bracket at all, but it's still not a machine for gaming.

Not a bad laptop except for the Celeron

The laptop linked uses the DDR2 version of the 4530.

You can see a GDDR3 version clock around 3000 3DMark06 with a Turion X2 here.

The DDR2 version is going to be miles slower. It'd be better than integrated graphics, but that's about the only good thing I could say about it :pac:

At the end of the day, what Alan said was right. If you are after a very slim machine with great battery life, that's a nice laptop. Its got a single-core CULV which is very weak but also draws very little power. Thats the kind of machine it is. If you actually need power (for gaming or otherwise) you could spend your €600 much better.

The video card isn't too bad actually but the processor is terrible for games - not just because it's a celeron, but its a low power version of the celeron designed for ultra portables...

That laptop would run WoW with ease and at medium to high settings. I've seen WoW run on 10-year-old machines.

€600 will buy you a Dell Studio 15 with ATI 4570 and decent(ish) Dual Core processor. That'd be fine for games that arent too demanding.

As in world of Warcraft maximum settings. Don't use the Aldi one as a basis for performance : price as its designed as an ultra portable slim machine.

I'm thinking about getting this laptop.

Would it be ok for using the likes of Autocad, Photoshop, ETS 3 professional and other design packages. Off course going online as well?

    No.
The celeron is just too underpowered for those apps which require CPU horses far more than GPU. The odd bit of photoshop, but I wouldn't try and run autocad or ETS3 on anything other than a dual core these days.

    610 + delivery.

Play WoW on max settings, no bother. Pretty good performance in other apps.
