First step would be to get onto your local council housing list, if you have not already done so. Forms should be available from the local council offices. They will then do an assessment of your needs and place you on the list accordingly.

Second would be to go onto www.daft.ie or www.myhome2let.ie and look up a list of accommodation that would be suitable for you and within budget (Check www.welfare.ie for current rates).

Get an idea of a couple of properties you would like to view. You will more than likely need to raise the deposit and/or first months rent in advance for the landlord as most of them require this and then accept your rent allowance (which is usually paid in arrears) as the next months rent.

Then go to your local CWO and fill in appropriate forms for claiming rent allowance. They may also need to visit the property you wish to let to make sure it is suitable.
