The only camo pattern I know is Tigerstripe, then I found out that was used in since Vietnam.

Wikipedia says that MARPAT desert version is used in Iraq.

that may have been in some training vids
they sometimes wear loads of defferent camo while training for some reason
i watched a vid on some of them firing artillary and one of them had acu shirt and pants, woodland helmet and a light coloured vest (cant remember the pattern)

    Tri colour desert?

    issue gear would be
    army: acu
usmc: marpat (both versions depending on where there operating in iraq)
the tri colours can still be seen as it was issue during the invasion, acd is meant to be replacing all tri but front line units get priority so some reserve units and support have not fully changed sometimes

you will always find examples of other gear being used either privately purchased or thought a lack of anything else being available

i would have a look over at http://www.militaryphotos.net/ a great resource

hmmm so if im going for the US army soldier look should i get ACU Then?

The US army used Tricolour desert to start with in Iraq, they then moved to ACU.

The USMC went to iraq with tricolour, and transitioned to MMDCU (Desert Marpat)

The Iraqi army use old choc chip desert camo the us used in gulf war 1.

A standard US army impression is no cheaper now than for nam....

ACU bdus, probably the wicking top style one now.
ACU ITV (Infantry Tactical Vest) the interceptor mk2 basically with full molle on the front, not a middle flap clear.
Acu, CB and od/ woodland pouches, mix and match for a good look.
One Mich 2002 helmet, with an acu cover.
Shoulder pauldrons are used, but not as much now due to restrictiveness... veterans tend not to wear them
Dropleg Safariland holster, and drop leg dump pouch or mag rig can be used, like nam, mag rigs were more common as extra ammo is useful.

Goggles on your helmet add to the look... wear shooting glasses... very common amungst us forces now.

yeah must have been as it wasnt the cho chip one or any digi pattern

Yeah ACU is the camo pattern, but it's horrible on it's own just as BDU's.
Do a full US army loadout, what i'm doing now.
Not 100% accurate, but to the Eye it pretty much is.

Basically what you'd want is a interceptor vest, helmet, pouches, knee pads, BDU's, Flakjacks just to rest on the helmet and loads of bits and bobs not worth linking.

The main piece is the vest really.
Dying to get it together now!

That's an ITV you linked sod o swords... the one used now sure, but not the older inteceptor vest... that was phased out mid 03-04
