I'm really really unhappy in the course i'm in,it's only the end of october so i'm wondering if any college would take me now? I'm not a mature student yet,but I have a good leaving cert and I applied to CAO before... I'm in Dublin,so really any of the dublin colleges... Is there any way to apply late? I've prob only missed about 3 weeks..

OP, what year are you in?

If you are in first year I suggest you drop out now if you are unhappy with your course.

Otherwise you will have to pay for the first semester totally all fees in if you decide to go back.

You have until Oct 31 IIRC.

That's right. Once you officially de-register from your college before Oct 31st you are eligible for full fees next year. I did the same thing 2 years ago and it was the right decision for me. Make sure you have you're head sorted out before you do anything, have a plan in place, look up courses you're interested in and then contact those colleges and see if they're are any availabilities there. It can't do any harm.

I was reading somewhere this morning (probably the metro... ) that there have been 44 new places offered this week to students because of a mix up in the grading of the leaving cert Biology exam. I realise you're not in the same situation but it can't hurt to ring up the colleges where the courses are on that you're interested in and see what they have to say. Best of luck.

    :)

Dont hesitate; talk to your college administratory people - dammit whats the word?

Even if you had started thinking this was 3 weeks ago you could have walked in just to ask was it possible and what your options were. So that when you landed on today, youd already know this stuff, having made your decision that you dont think its a right fit for you.

    Go. Ask questions. Stuff!

the thing is...i dropped out of a course last year and really cant do it again...plus,i've already had my fees paid for the course i did last year so whatever I do,i'll have to pay for. I really need to stay up here and not drop out so I really really hope there's a way to get into a course now...The courses i like are in TCD and UCD
