My Ford Ka (97D) has let me down one too many times. Over the last month it hasnt started 3 times and despite having my aunties fiancee checking it out with a diagnostic machine, I've had no joy on getting it right.

I want rid of it, so what is my best option? Will any garage take it in the hope that they can fix it or sell it on? Is there anywhere I can give it for scrap metal, perhaps get a few quid out of it?

Also, what would people's advice be regarding a new car? Dont wanna spend over a grand, just need something reliable.

    Cheers

Not many garages will be intrested in a 97 ka with engine troubles.

Scrapyards will take most cars for free but down my end of the Country they never pay anything for old cars.

You might be better off selling it as it is and be honest about its problems.

Loads for cars for a grand out there, there is a tread on this site about best car for a grand, might give you some ideas.

if it hasn't started 3 times but been fine the rest of the time it might be something small. Bring it to a mechanic and get it checked out properly. Diagnostics aren't much use on a ka. You might have it running for a lot less than what you'd spend on another. And for a grand you're as likely to buy someone else's trouble as you are a good one. Better the devil you know and all that
