So that's just Benzema, Henry and Gourcuff to look out for then.

    Brilliant.

And Anelka of course who seems to have a reasonable understanding of where the back of the net is and the most expeditious route to it of late.

Exactly, it's still a positive. No need for the negativity.

There is a difference between negativity and injecting a touch of realism.

    and Nasri and Anelka.

Still though, he is a major spark which they will now be lacking.

<edit> too slow with anelka, should have refreshed!

Of course it's a positive, France without Ribery are not as good as France with Ribery. But Henry is still the player I'm fearing the most in the two matches, Gourcuff is a top top player and Benzema is only performing poorly before of that convoluted system Pellegrini has got going at Real.

Aye. When I look at this irish team though, O'Shea,Dunne and Given are the players that stand out,O'Shea was brilliant against Italy and he'll have to be better against France. We need these three to perform to have any squeak and any reports of a weakend attacking threat from France has to be good news.

What's the story on Henry's fitness?

While I wish injury on nobody, if those three are out, it will be big a big boost for ROI's chances.

    England "B" FTW!! :D

I really hope this is true and not some made up story. Still would not be surprised to see him line out in Croker come Saturday 14th thats for sure.. Heres hoping.

Will also be praying that no injuries will be picked up by Keane, Dunne, O Shea, Duff or Given for that matter too.

If we have fully fit team we have chance otherwise we dont have players in few key positions to fill the boots imo.

    Brilliant.

is Lassana Diarra in the squad,if so he's the main man along with Beni imo,he'll take the piss out of our two in the middle, makes space for himself so well.

Well that's one down....many to go.

Trap has been very lucky so far so who knows what could happen between now and then.

Maybe Henry and Domenech will have a falling out because of Thierry's late night guitar sessions. And perhaps Benzema will have some puzzling grand-parental problems and exit the camp.

    Ya never know!

time to worry about the 11 players that will take the pitch

O'Shea on the left and Finnan on the right please. Will deal with that attack.

    Agree!

    My team would be

    1: Given
    2: Finnan
    3: O Shea
    4: St Ledger
    5: Dunne
    6: Whelan
    7: Lawerence
    8: S Reid
    9: Doyle
    10: Keane
    11: Duff

Andy Reid on the bench for possible adjustment to a 4 4 1 1 system

Not for France. Also didn't get a kick against Dunne last week.

    this is good news,

Ribery is arguably France's most creative player high up the pitch. Without him and his incisive runs, it could force the French forwards to drop that little beat deeper and congest the middle, making life difficult for Gourcoff et al. It could be very good for us.

Or Henry may just pop up with another wonder goal and render it moot... who knows.
