I have the iPhone 3g - I upgraded to the 3.0 software and then jailbroke it.

Since then it has got pretty dam slow over time. Sometimes pushing the menu button can be soo slow. Then if I click into text messages it can take 1-15 seconds to appear!!

Its getting very annoying now. I don't really use much of the jailbroken stuff, so I was thinking of upgrading to the 3.1 software to get it back to normal and hopefully gaster. However, I heard that if I do, I won't be able to jaibreak it (even) again. Is this true?

The thing is in a few months I will upgrade to the 3Gs - and sell mine. I'm assuming I'll get more for it if its jailbroken?

    What do you think?

Have you tried doing a full reboot on it (power down completely, then back on)? That typically solves such slowdowns for me.

You can also update to 3.1 and jailbreak, it's now possible - it's the unlock that becomes trickier but if you don't need it, then that's not something to worry about. I see no reason to go to 3.1 now though, you could always just try reloading 3.0?

if you have a Mac or know someone with a Mac you can get them to jailbreak 3.1.2 for you - this will preserve your current baseband meaning you can still unlock and jailbreak in the future. Another option is googling and downloading a pre-jailbroken .ipsw, and restoring using that custom image using Itunes - thats what I did as my phone was also running like a dog and the battery was terrible.

Just be careful....and whatever you do, do NOT let Itunes update your firmware or you will upgrade the baseband rendering any unlock your currently using useless.
