Canderel/Splenda

    Are Canderel and Splenda one and the same thing? I've been trying a lower carb diet and came across a recipe for low-carb pancakes that required Splenda as a sugar substitute. I bought Canderel (purely because it came in a smaller container!) but then thought that I'd made a boo boo because when I read the pack it said that it has ~95 grams of carbs per 100g. So yesterday I went to the supermarket to get Splenda only to find out that it has ~97 grams of carbs per 100g! :confused: How is this a low-carb sugar subsitute?

    You only use a tiny amount of it. :)

    Candarel = Aspartame

    Splenda = Sucralose

    The powered splenda is a bit of a joke from the low carb perspective as it's bulked with dextrose, which although it is much much less dense than table sugar, it's still sugar.

    The splenda tablets are much better to use.

    Edit: Or if you can get it, liquid splenda. I use liquid stevia myself.

    I don't know if this helps: I'm diabetic and I have a bit of a sweet tooth, I've been told by a dietician that Splenda is by far the healthier choice over Candarel or Hermasetas, I don't know why though.

    I don't know why either. Sounds like a load of pants to me tbh.
