Help with valuation

I'm thinking of selling my road bike. I was never really happy with the fit of it. The only thing is I'm not sure what it's worth.

It's a 2007 Giant SCR C3. I bought it in June 2008 and there's only about 1500kms on it. I also put a new wheelset on it just a few months ago, there's only about 500kms on them. The new wheeset are Mavic OpenPros with an Ultegra hub.

    The size is medium.

The bike new in 2007 was €2,200 in Cyclesuperstore.

As I said I'm only looking into it. If it's not worth my while selling I'll hang on to it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

The 2008 model http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/13206/Giant_SCR_C3_Bike_2008 is available new for £999. I think you'll struggle to make more than €750. If I were you I'd hold on to it......

At a guess, it's worth what someone will pay for it.

    Fair enough.

Does it make a difference that the sizes winstanleys have are small and extra small? That could be the reason there's such a discount off them.

If you aren't happy with the fit, take what you can and run, don't hang onto a bike and cycle it if it's not right for you. Don't get shafted either, but I would have guessed somewhere around RobFowl's price ~800 euro or so.

Do you have the original wheels? Could stick them back on and keep the ultegra/pros?

Are UK shops allowed to ship Giants to Ireland?

If you can find someone who is looking for a brand name and won't buy over the internet you might get a better price.

I'd advertise at €800. That way you're comfortably under the Planet-X/Boardman/Cayo price point.

It's a nice bike. Are you sure you can't get it to fit right?

I have the original wheels, it would be an option alright. I'd have to get the back one done up a little.

I already put a 90mm stem on it. It's the reach that I'm not happy with. Everything else is fine.

I have done the ww100 and tour of kildare on it and I was ok at the end but I rarely go into the drops. I find when I'm on the hoods I have to change after a while as I feel I'm stretching just a little.

I would imagine you could get in the region of €950-1,000 for it if lucky- unfortunately what is cost in CSS is not really relevant to a buyer comparing with what is available online etc. You might have to settle for less as others have suggested.

The likes of the Planet X with new Ultegra comes in around €1,200 built and shipped. Some people will pay a bit more for the Giant brand name. I sold my Ultegra SL Focus Cayo for €950 if that helps; only six months old but a fair bit more mileage.

As others have suggested put the stock wheels back on if you still have them, you can keep the Open Pros for another bike or alternatively they would have a market for being sold on their own. A buyer looking at the bike as a whole is unlikely to appreciate them so much I reckon.

i'd pay the 800€ if you wanna part from it.
