    Budget: €400-600

Intended use: internet, e-mail, office applications, watching movies, music.

    Mobility: not important

    Warranty: not important.

Also it must have a keypad like a regular keyboard. I hate using the numbers at the top of laptops.

I was looking at this and it seems great value for the money. However i went into the shop and tried one and didn't like the feel of it. Touchpad wasn't smooth and the buttons seemed kinda clunky.

Opinions please on what you think i should go for?

I really dont think that top is worth the asking price. Youd expect with those specs to at least get a 17" screen for that much.

Check out the British websites that deliver to Ireland or hit the North, you'll save a fortune. Not sure if Amazon now deliver here for laptops but you'll get an impressive beast on there for €400.

DELL's Inspiron 1545s are excellent. After my two previous purchases from them, I wouldn't go anywhere else for PCs/laptops.

Yeah, but no numeric keypad which is a deal breaker for me!:)

Well their value for money is way better than any computer retailer. You can just buy a USB numeric keypad separately.

have a look at the Dell Vostro 1720, Inspiron 17 or Studio 17. All have keypads and all fall within the budget range I think.

    Do really fancy a Dell.

The acer i mention above is much higher spec for only 523. You can't really get anywhere near it for the budget.

    Any others?

I have an emachines laptop that has 222gb memory, number keypad, web cam, hd screen, blu ray player, card reader, wi fi and it was 479euros! I've had it for a few months now and its working great:) I hadn't even heard of the brand before although its owned by acer, and had been looking at similiar laptops of different brands for like 600 and over:eek:
    I'd definetly recommend it:D
Check it out here if you want more info: http://www.emachines.com/products/products.html?prod=eME627-5279
