    Hi everyone. I had a maths lab today and when i tried to log into the computer using my account it wouldn't work. I'm at home now and can access my portal and my zone perfectly.I was wondering what the **** the problem is. I'm also unable to use a link i was given by my Biology lecturer in order to obtain the notes he has up on the site. Everytime i try log into it and get them it refuses me.

    I'm stumped as to what the problem is. Any thoughts are appreciated.

    Which password are you using? AFAIK the random one you were given stays as the password for everything other than e-mail, or they have for me.

    I'm using the one i was given and also tried the one i use for my email and it doesn't work. As a result of this predicament i was asked to leave my Computing Lab today and have probably lost percentage towards my final grade.

    I'm raging!

    Well Im no computer whizz so I may be wrong but maybe you didn't register properly. When I registered my passwords and such for myzone I also had to register it other places (cant really remember where tho). Maybe theres just one section of the network you're not registered on yet...

    Or it is possible that you were doing something wrong with typing your password in, happens to all of us. You type it in, it doesnt get accepted, you blame the computer because you know you did it right... then realise you didnt...

    As for losing your percentage - there werent enough spaces in the labs today and I'm pretty sure some people were told to come back wednesday and they'd be running them again

    Nah, doubt you'll lose marks. I'm just switching to maths now like so I've a ****load. Get over to ISS tomorrow and have them reset your password, had to do the same myself last week.

    I was sent to them today by the guy in charge of the Computer Lab but there was nobody ****ing there. I'll have to get around to it tomorrow because it's really drying my patience!

    No i'm 10000% percent sure i'm entering it correctly as i've tried over 55 times at this stage.

    Is there any chance you could post the links to the places i was supposed to have registered on so i know where i stand. Cheers.

    Poor celtic723. It just seems to be tragedy after tragedy for you. Maybe the computers just didn't like the look of you; their anti-povvo feature is highly sensitive and very effective.


    Anyway, to investigate your heart-rending predicament a little further:

    1)Did you try logging into other computers earlier today? Sometimes the computers, those kooky little things, they just don't work properly. Yup.

    2)Could you post the link to those notes, to see if anyone else can access them? That way we can rule out any problems that might exist on the tcd.ie end.

    If you haven't used the password manager yet, that's why. For some reason, your account gets locked out. It happened to me as well. You have to go to ISS and get your account sorted out.

    Ye my account got locked out today in the Lab when i tried.

    What do i have to do when i get to ISS? Any chance you could tell me what you done and i'll be able to do the same. Cheers.

    Just go in and say your account got locked out. It took less than a minute. The guy typed something and then I could use my old password again. Don't forget to go back to the password manager though when you're done.

    Thanks alot Fringe. I'll get that done tomorrow! When i go back to password manager what do i need to do? Just register i take it?

    Which computer room were you in? Because the computers in the Maths department aren't on the College network as such, and so have a different password.

    Not sure if this helps but if your talking about the maths lab where you have to use the software on the computers in the School of Maths, then this is completely different from the myzone stuff. You have to go in and set up a brand new account which is signed off on by the school of maths. It is completely different from the stuff you get when you register.

    To log into the network you're only allowed to enter your password ten times before the account is locked and you have to visit ISS. Dodgy PC's and in my experience Macs can lock you out after one attempt, if they're broken.

    Myzone etc is run by Google and is an entirely seperate system, to the network.

    Are you talking about the computers in the maths department? That's a separate system and to register, type in apply for the username and password on the login screen.

    Good old Trinity, you'll have 10 different passwords by the time you graduate, and you'll never be quite sure which is for which, and which has expired and so on. I imagine the ISS technicians have been reading rather a lot of Kafka in their spare time (or during work hours).
