    Hi everyone,
have recently rejoined weightwatchers online to try and shift about 3 stone, and badly need ideas for some low point treats and main meal ideas before I get some groceries this week. I'll get plenty of veg for 0 point soups for lunch and roasted veg in the evenings alongside some meat etc, but are there any foods you find you wouldnt be able to stick to your points without?? For me, as treats, its mini snack bars, they usually average around 1.5 points and cadbury ones etc are far nicer and cheaper than the WW products of the same point value.

Looking forward to getting some meal ideas also!

    Many thanks.

    Hi OP,

Have you read the stickies? There's also a thread already set up regarding WW.

Also, as an aside, if you're trying to lose 3 stone - a healthy diet is the most important factor, but have you looked into aerobic exercise and lifting weights?

Thank you all SO much for the effort you put into your post, there are fantastic ideas there which i am going to make note of. I think the key seems to be planning out meals for about a week, and that way there's no excuses! I'm a decent cook and tend to cook a lot from scratch and freeze portions, its just a new way of thinking that i need to get in to.

Have done WW before my wedding and lost 1.5 stone, which is all i needed to lose then, that was 3 yrs ago, but since having my 2yr old i put on 3 stone, which actually i think was a side effect from some meds i had to take for a while. So i know i can do this!

Again I really appreciate the tips :)

    Hi Frogdog,
yes i plan to get into the habit of aerobics a few times a week, and i walk an hour every second day. I have chronic pain in my foot at the moment which just gets more aggravated when i over use it so apart from the walking i can't do much til it gets sorted.

Got a great shop in tescos yesterday, using all your ideas. Their healthy living range is really good. The one thing i couldnt find was low fat HB vanilla ice cream, but i ended up getting a normal tesco cookie and cream one, really nice and only 2.5 points a scoop.

Another thing i found were 6 Healthy living chocolate mouse pots for 95cent! they are only 1 point each and i like them with 0pt orange sugar free jelly.

Am delighted now and have so much choice in the fridge now, and for family dinners, where just because i'm on a diet doesnt mean they go without.

    Thanks again everyone.

Well done with the cardio (walking and future aerobics). An hour of a walk is a lot and a very good way to lose bodyfat, however only as long as you keep up a good pace. A fast walk for a half hour is better than a slow walk for an hour.

As you currently have an injured foot I know too well how it can affect your training, but it shouldn't affect lifting weights too much. And weights are more beneficial than cardio if you want to lose bodyfat. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn, even when doing nothing! :)

And don't worry about the story of "women who lift weights only get bulky". It doesn't happen, certainly not to the extent that has made this theory an urban myth. From the below link:

"It’s a rare woman that can become a competitive bodybuilder, and to get that big she has to combine genetics, extensive long-term training, strict diet, and supplementation (legal or otherwise)."

Thats very interesting frogdog, what kind of weightlifting exercises would you suggest that i could do at home?

Btw the walking is actually broken into 2 x 30minute fast walks

Another suggestion for exercise with an injured foot would be swimming. Very good whole-body workout and non load bearing on your foot as well...

I think they are 1.5 per biscuit unless something has changed since I last looked. I'd be delighted to find it had!:D

Aero mousse is only 2 points per pot in all flavours. If you sprinkle a crumbled light chocolate digestive over the white choc mousse it tastes just like a really nice creamy cheese cake.Delicious and all for 3.5points.

Hmmm, very difficult to do at home unless you have the equipment/home gym I'm afraid! Free weights are the best, I wouldn't bother too much with machines as they only target one muscle at a time. Exercises with free weights target more than one muscle at a time. Compound exercises like squats, deadlifts, bench press, shoulder press, pull-ups/chin-ups, etc are the best exercises.

You could try doing some of these with just your bodyweight. But after a while you'll soon grow out of them and need heavier weights. You could do push-ups, bodyweight squats, etc.

Squats, lunges, tricep dips, push ups, pull ups, tummy/oblique crunches, calf raises...
