just wondering what you guys wear as the weather gets worse, thought it might be interesting to see what people may think are good or bad or if there are any bargains to be had

myself I have thermals top and bottoms that I wear when its really cold they're the biz imo

also around this time I tend to wear a compression top under a long sleeve or short sleeve t-shirt maybe a sleeve-less sweater and windstopper,

dont like wearing waterproof tops unless necessary, but do generally wear the legs, rather than having mucky bottoms to my pants

what about you guys, which items do you rate well for winter

    nike compression top.........................................7/10
    mizuno & nike(mock neck) thermal tops........mizuno6/10,....nike8/10
    m&s thermal bottoms.........................................9/10(best buy about€20 i think)
    galvin green windstopper...................................10/10
galvin green waterproofs....................................8/10(elastic tie for pants is crap, top is 10/10)
    nike (light) waterproofs......................................8/10
    footjoy 1/2 sleeve waterproofs............................8/10

footjoy and g.green is now 5 and 3 yrs old and still almost as new.....a bit more expensive to buy but is great gear imo.....good for many more years to come

Just started wearing the layers last weekend

Under Armour Coldgear Long sleeve base layer 9/10 (mock & crew neck)
Mizuno long sleeve 1/4 zip windlite fleece - 9/10 this one
Mizuno Impermalite Rain Gear Pants -9/10 1/4 Zip Jacket-9/10 Full Jacket-9/10
Under Armour Micro Fleece - 8/10

Invested in the Mizuno rain gear two years ago, put a bit of research into it and for the price I thought they were the best value on-line. The 1/4 zip rain top came free with the jacket and pants. They are fully water proof, i give them 9/10 as they are not 100% breathable. Got the Windlite fleece after I found the other Mizuno kit so good. It's nice and warm without being to bulky but I wouldn't wear it under the rain gear.

I use all the underarmour gear for golf, football, cycling. The micro fleece takes up very little room in the bag and is handy for under the rain gear.

Going to look into buying the the thermal bottoms

I'd imagine it was to do with the sheer amount of gear they have, that they must be getting a staff discount... tongue in cheek.

I use helly hansen base layers... excellent, warm, go faster stripes.

I use a Walrus light wind/showerproof short sleeved top.
Footjoy long sleeved waterproof top that is generally excellent (except in absolute ba****d days).
Sunderland bottoms. These are also excellent but can be warm so great in winter but not so great in the monsoon season where they can be uncomfortable. I might look for a more 'trousers' type for next year...
    Berghaus Woolly hat

i also wear thermals top and bottoms and if its realy cold ill wear 2 sets ;).i recently splashed out on a set of galvin green water proofs, and i have to say its the best money i have spent in ages, they fit so well ,no swing restrictions and compleatly water proof .i also got a set of wet gloves ,i love these things.. callaway mits for the freesing weather, as far as shoes go i play a fair bit so shoes dont last to long i go through about 3 pairs a year ,i like the footjoys. woolly hat in winter cap in summer ,thermal socks in winter ,thats about it for me:D

For those on a more modest budget, keep an eye out for Aldi's next ski gear special. They sell a great ski-shirt, basically a thermal long sleeved t-shirt, for less than €10. That t-shirt under a light-weight waterproof jacket is enough for 90% of winter days.

None of that fancy stuff for me !
All I have is a good sleeveless windbreaker jacket and a Thinsulate hat.
I bought one of those thermal tops last year for soccer and stopped wearing it as it was ridiculously tight,I couldnt breathe properly in it,and it was XL and I am pretty fit.It was like a top for a 10 year old kid.:(
