Is there a legal requirment to have a certain number of lessons before sitting your test?

I thought I heard of this when they changed the rules a year or 2 ago or maybe i imagined it.

Search isnt working so sorry if this is a regular question.

There's no minimum requirement. You could sit the test without ever sitting behind the wheel of a car technically.

I was nearly positive that you had to have ten lessons as of last year

did an instructor tell you that??!!
as a veteran of 7 tests, the first 6 i was basically scared into having about 8-10 lessons before the test. i found that just made me more nervous.
the 7th, i had 2 lessons, a week before, and 2 hours before the test, and i felt great during it. just make sure the instructors aren't out to scare the bejaysis out of you!

There are provisional plans to bring in that rule in March 2010.
But,, if its anything like the Motorbike plans,, dont bet on it.
