Hi, moving to near Belfast I have set up my moterised dish and polar mount, and need to adjust the angle, and aline the dish, I have though of taking my receiver, and a small TV down to where the dish is located in the garden. If this is ok how do I then do things.

    Thanking you,

    Hans.

    Dish 1.8 mt
    Manhatten receiver.

With this size antenna, the beam width will be very narrow, so I would suggest a good metre, and and a real satellite installer, with experience with this type of system, could cost a few pound, but well worth it.

If you print out the following, it goes through it bit by bit. IMO you're better off learning how to do it yourself, because if you get an installer, and it subsequently goes out of alignment, you'll have to pay them a second time round.

If you don't mind me saying, a 1.8m dish with a polarmount and actuator arm will be quite a challenge to set up accurately for a beginner (I'm assuming you haven't done this before?) as most people start with 80/90cm dishes and H-H motors, but you may have plans to pull in hard to get satellites and play around with C band etc - so enjoy the experience:)
The site referenced by Apogee is excellent and gives good tips - I used it a lot when I planned my motor install (and I just use a H-H motor). As vsat says, the beamwidth on your size dish is very narrow, so it's much more difficult to align it accurately to track the satellite belt.
I'd suggest you move your thread to the foreign satellite forum as you will get more help there.
