I have been wondering for ages if there is any organisation the visits the elderly in Galway / rural Ireland ? Particularly those that live alone and in remote locations ?

If not, how would you go about starting something up ?

The family resource centres based in Headford, Oughterard, Loughrea, Ballygar and Gort organise visits to the elderly living alone in rural areas as well as providing meals on wheels. Trouble is, these groups which are predominantly voluntary are in danger of being wiped out in the cutbacks.
