Dublin Airport USCBP Preclearance

Going out on the EI105 this Friday at 10.30 - anyone any experiences preclearing in Dublin at this time? What the queues are like and how long in advance should we be arriving at the airport etc?

Also is it the full shilling and proper preclearance (have the ESTA done of course) - are you then treated as a domestic passenger on arrival in JFK? Looking for personal experiences if any, preferably...

    Advice appreciated, cheers :)

I've usually arrived 3 hours beforehand, 2 and a half would probably be fine, less would be cutting it. Queue has never tended to be too bad.

You have to fill in a few forms (of the 'Have you ever been a genocidal maniac, international terrorist or member of the communist party' variety).
Make sure to have the name&address/confirmation of your hotel to hand, not buried in your hold luggage.

Its the full malarkey alright, so you are treated as a domestic at JFK - still have to show your passport etc but you don't have to do a separate immigration or anything.

Its the full malarkey alright, so you are treated as a domestic at JFK - still have to show your passport etc but you don't have to do a separate immigration or anything.

All immigration paperwork is handled in Dublin, you will additionally have your picture and finger prints taken. Upon landing at JFK, you will still have to go through the customs checkpoint which means turning over your blue customs declaration form to the CBP officer. So, in reality, the flight is still being treated as an international arrival as you need to reclaim your baggage and recheck it for onward travel as well as undergo security screening again.

My understanding is that once they finish the new terminal in Dublin, US Customs and Agriculture services will be provided as well, and then the flight can land in the States as a proper domestic arrival.
