    On the front of the Galway Advertiser that there are 170 channels you can get without any subscription? Am I wasting my 269 on it? Will it only be for a short period of time. I see it as a money saving venture in the long run. Rarely watch tv myself, for the missus! Any thoughts?

    Hi Yourmano. Sounds like a free to air box. Nope the channels will not dissapear. They are channels that are available here in Ireland without a subscription. BBCs UTVs some movies, music, news etc. Unfortunately it does not have RTE, Network Two, TV3 or Telifis na Gaeilge but can be used in conjunction with an aerial.     If its a free to air box then the channels will dissapear from time to time all free to air boxes need retuning every couple of months as the channels change frequenciess and transponders but if its a dedicated Freesat/Sat4free box then it wont need retuning. Its quite funny how every free to air add and flyer doing the rounds these days says there are hundreds of channels available. On the astra 2 satellite there are roughly 350 but what they dont mention is that about 270 of these channels are Streams, the bbc/itv regions, Arabic, Indian, Religon and shopping to be honest their is about 60 quite decant channels worth looking at.
