    Hi
I have a 04 lexus se and on 4 occasions in the last week - while accelerating from 2nd to 3rd the accelerator literally sticks to the floor and the car pretty much goes out of control - on these occarions i have had to break and take it out of gear - needless to say I am quite worried about this.
I have removed the floor matt just incase it might be a contributing factor.
Any idea's of hte cause or resolution to this?

    Thanks

    Hmmmm,

I'd say from the sounds of it that you have a sticky accelerator.

(sorry, couldn't help it - to much AH ... I'll get my coat:))

Ive only ever heard of this problem being caused by wrong floor mats.
If it happens again with the mat taken out, get it over to lexus fairly quickly. I wouldnt fancy that at all even if it should be no real drama to control.

its happened to me the mat slipping and accelerator getting stuck this has happened in a couple of different cars to me.
    No need to panic :D

However there was a case recently were a lexus driver in california was killed with the accelerator sticking. Ill see if i can find the news story.
Once again not to panic you, but that was a GS300 i think.

your model is not included, but you should check with dealer, before something happens...

mats usually are to blame for this happening, wrong sort, or cheap generic ones not fitting correctly, or moving during use...

but I will echo above, very serious, get it into a mechanic to get it checked out ASAP, if it still happens when mats are removed
