Dublin airport layout

    Quick question folks..

Ryanair flight FR47 lands in Dublin airport at 19:35. My dad needs to get off that flight and get on to the FR536 (Dublin to East Midlands), which departs at 20:55 (gate closes at 20:25).

Assuming there are no delays (Ryanair flights usually arrive ahead of schedule, I've found), can my dad get from the arrival gate to the departure gate in under 50 minutes?

Also, does he have to pass through Immigration upon arriving on the FR47, or is it possible to stay airside and simply walk off the FR47 to the FR536 departure gate (which hopefully will be detailed on the screens)?

Note that he's checked in already for both flights, boarding passes printed and carrying hand luggage only.

    Many thanks.

There is theoretically nothing stopping him from staying airside if both planes land/depart from the same terminal.

    Thank Seamus.

Can I just check though, Dublin airport has only one terminal anyway, right?

One terminal, however it will vary greatly on where he lands at Dublin.

If both flights are from the A gates, great.

If one or both land from the D gates, inbound and outbound passengers don't mix and he'll have to go through a long walk to the main terminal and then back to the D gates after security - no short walk.

The majority of Ryanair's flights use the D gates.

Really appreciate this info, thanks BuffyBot.

So, to confirm, chances are the FR47 will land in the D gates area. If so, Dad'll have to walk the long work, through Immigration, and out, then back in to Departures (probably D gates area), for the FR536.

    Is that what you're saying?

In that eventuality, do you think it's do-able in 50 minutes? I suspect that it largely depends on the GNIB queue.

    Yes, pretty much.

It's doable, but very tight in that scenario - if everything goes right. But if GNIB and screening queues are long, it'll be looking unlikely.

If he's only got carry on bag he should be fine.
Ryanair as you know don't do bag transfers.
Try and skip the queue explaining why if you need to go through immigration.

Yep, most ryanair flights i've been have LANDED on time, or even early...they just seem to take an AGE to actually taxi, and let you off the plane! He should be alright though...

Make sure he's sat at the front of the plane on the way in and is quick on the walk/ run to the passport check. No telling how many desks they will have open or how many other flights landed at the same time, best to just make sure your in front of the other punters on your plane I find when you get there if landing at the D gates.

Thanks for all the advice chaps!

We landed in Dublin (from Charleroi) at 19:30 tonight (5 minutes early!). Arrived in the D gates area, as I was expecting.

Definitely no chance of jumping from D gates area Arrivals to D gates area Departures, unfortunately.

So we quickly walked the long walk to Immigration, showed passports, then proceeded to baggage claim (not that we had baggage).

Anyway, in the baggage carousels area we noticed a sign for "Flight Transfers" (or wording to that effect). We followed the sign. Turns out it's just a short cut back to Departures (security screening).

So all worked out in the end. Dad was at the gate for his flight to East Mids at 20:10 (it was due to close at 20:25). He made his flight and landed in East Mids early, too!

PS, we had a great time today. Flew from Dub to Belgium Charleroi @ 07:35, hired a car and drove through Belgium, stopped at a couple of lovely towns and villages, had breakfast, drove to Holland, stopped and had a look round, drove to Germany, stopped and shopped and had lunch, then drove back to Charleroi for the 19:00 back to Dublin.

Had a whale of a time - we were in 4 countries today (make that 5 for my dad!). Cost 1c each way with Ryanair and not a penny more.
