Paint Peeling

    Hi,

I'm looking for a few good suggestions on how best to tackle the following problem.

The paint on the walls of one of the kids bedrooms has lifted off in patches here and there. The walls are hardwall skim finish, and are sound without any traces of dampness or water ingress of any kind. My guess is that the first coat of paint put on the same walls, was not thinned in any way, and so did not key or stick like it should have.
My trouble is that when I try to peel away some paint around the patches, more and more comes off leaving me with big bare patches.
I am worried that if I finish the whole job without peeling the whole room (which would be a nightmare job) I will be left with walls which look badly painted. That is to say, mostly wall with say 5 or 6 coats of paint from painting over 30 years and then some patches where I peel down to the hardwall with only the paint I put on now.

Any suggestions as to how to make the best of this situation?

    R

You will have to scrape back any loose of flaking section unfortunately. The apply a sealer [owatrol or zinnser] over this. Flush fill the walls any paint as normal with emulsion
