Attendance at CAP2 lectures...

Anybody attended the lectures for CAP 2 yet? Mine don't start until October 31st... just wondering do they just take attendance in the morning or do they take it after lunch too?

Do people reckon they're really gonna enforce this 70% attendance? What if you're on an audit outside of Dublin, how are you supposed to make your lectures?

It looks pretty ridiculous. Most of the lecturers forgot to take attendence at times. They said they would keep track of attendence and send it to the firm.

They'll probably be rigid on it at the beginning but the standards will slip by around Christmas.

Just befriend a few people who are in the classes. And text a few of them your student number and get them to sign you in.

I just started CAP1 over the weekend. Regarding the attendance requirement we were told that to sit the CAP 1 exams you need to have 70% attendance and get 40% average in the mocks.

However, if you get lower than 40% and the class average is also lower than 40% they will look at deviations from the average (i.e if you are signifigantly below the average) in deciding if you meet the requirement or not. Most importantly even if you get 10% and show up to two lectures, your training firm can override both requirements! So I wouldn't worry too much about it, but maybe bring up your concerns with your firm. As far as I can see so long as your firm wants you to sit the exams you can.

In my lectures they simply passed around a sheet and you could sign it during the break if you were late and so on. They don't seem to care if you leave early or arrive late.

This sounds good I think. I hope to make as many lectures as I can to start with anyway. It's just I play sport on the weekend so I have matches on Saturdays. I have to skip out early some weekends I think.

Just wondering if you have to sign in your attendance once or twice a day on the weekends?

Hi guys I was wondering if everyone attends the cap2 lectures at the same time? I mean do all the trainees from the big 4 accountancy firms attend the lectures at same times or do they have separate timetables???

    Thanks!
