true true, but still.. showing john cena and edge,i thought that would impose on their copyrights, just like if wwe had two guys dressed as butters and cartman..

I'm really looking forward to this.

Do you not think the Scientologists would have tried that?

There's some law in America that allows you to parody anybody who puts themselves into the public arena

Back then, South Park was only into it's first two seasons on air so the PR it got from Golga carrying a Cartman doll on Raw did it lot of good; they'd hardly have turned it down :)

    RANDY MARSH FOR RAW HOST!!!!

Actually, I think it was beyond the mat or something but one documentary pointed out that at the peak of Raw South Park was the only show doing better and drew the comparison that they were both aimed at kids and both pushed the boundaries of decency

Remember that too. I think your right with Beyond the mat. Was it not to do with the merchandising and South Park was the top merchandise seller with wwf at number 2?

I was thinking of 1998 when I said what I said. And given the language on South Park, I don't think it's exactly "aimed at kids", though kids do watch it a lot :)

Looking forward to this. Been a while since I've seen a show about wrestling done by talented writers. :pac:

I enjoyed it and did laugh a good deal during it but it obviously did not portray wrestling in the best possible light with all the fans being the local rednecks and "real" wrestling being portrayed as gay (it was never going to though as SP rip on subject matter for the most part and wrestling is open for that). Still though it was very enjoyable including some of those above parts, the return of "they took our Jawbs" and tbh the gay porn bits in relation to clips of real wrestling on his ipod made me laugh too. The lack of Batdad was a missed opportunity though as was not making more of Vince McMahons character, even if it was just adding his swagger and a better impression of him.

i'm watching it seattle right now. fierce funny the way they take the piss out of real wrestling. "we found the gay porn on your iphone". vince coming on now

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,083 ✭✭✭waltersobchak

it was good, but it could have been sooooo much better,im really surprised they actually didnt rip on vince and wwe that much, just the wrestling fans, which im disappointed about.. i think the biggest let down was vinces voice, i was expecting it to be really over the top, and its was the complete opposite, althought the voice for edge was really well done, i dunno maybe i was expecting too much because i was really hoping for some digs at cena too, but i did enjoy "they took our jobs" and its many variations!!

I thought the beginning was great and Kenny being a luchador with his own little mexican fanbase niche was genius, other than that I was slightly disappointed, it came across as a bit dated. I mean everyone knows wrestling is fake at this stage, even red necks. ;)

Think you guys missed the point with Vince. They were trying to portray him as some kind of posh play critic almost. That's what I got from it anyway, maybe I'm the one missed the point :P

I thought the episode was just ok. All pretty obvious and I expect more from South Park.

im sure they dont mind. There is no such thing as bad publicity. Im sure Mcmahon is thinking he can get a more adult audience now.

I was expecting all kinds of Benoit stuff and the like. Vince really got let off the hook and have a feeling he actually enjoys it when he sees it

yeah i got that, but thats what annoyed me i was hoping hey would portray him in a really ott way,but ah well..

did anyone else think the raw event being at the pepsi center was a sly dig aswell??

I loved it. My favourite bits were either the hicks turning the coach babyface because he lost his job or else them discussing what was happening in the ring with complete earnesty

I would have liked to see more WWE references. The beginning was brilliant with Cartman and Butters and the amateur wrestling.

    "This is f*cking gay!"

I felt it was pretty average after that though and felt more could have been done with it. Wonder what the WWE wrestlers made of it though.

    "This is not rassslin"

This episode was begging for Randy Marsh though :( I did like the episode but I doubt that the non-wrestling audience enjoyed it too much.

my mates dont watch wrestling and they loved it....you dont have to be a vamp kid to like the ungroundable episode!just like you dont have to be a wrestling fan to like this episode

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,955 ✭✭✭rizzla

Watched it there. Thought it was great, glad they didn't do any in jokes where only wrestling fans would get it. Loved how they put it across as a really bad soap opera.

I do. They could have ripped on Benoit and made the business look so much worse than this.

    Please go on though Callway92

I like South Park but they have their fair share of crap episodes. They also can get carried away with their 'messages'
Some people read into the show too much which is always pretentious.
Im looking forward to this episode.
