Merc E230 Problem

    Hi there

    Just wondering does anyone have a possible solution for following problem. A friend of mine has a 2000 merc e230 estate automatic and has had zero trouble with it before, but recently the car has failed to start and the auto gearstick wont budge (which can be expected when a car wont start)! We think the prob could be the immobliser but really it is only a wild guess.

    Does anyone know of similar problems with these models?

    Sorry lads its a 2.8 petrol, not a 230.

    No warning lamps appear on the dashboard and the battery has only been changed 6 months ago. Its as if the car wont start mechanically?

    2.8? are you sure,and is the engine turning over on the key or what
