    Facebook post:
"just saw this on the news, just goes to show the man up there does exist after all...."

So I replied: "If the child had died would it be proof that God doesn't exist?"

    lol

well judging by the converations on the Chrisitanity forum if the kid had died it would be more proof that God exists and punishes the wicked, which included children apparently.

    Win, win for Christians really

    ooh...harsh.
I had a close look and it eerie how that pram takes off. She took her hand away for a single second. It's not like the platform is heavily sloped yet the pram just moves away from her, she even slips slightly when she realises..the whole thing taking less than a 3 seconds. I think after studying the clip it could've happened to anyone. Also the grief she must have experienced and the sudden pulsating trauma is almost unimaginable so I could never criticize the poor woman. Shocking, I believe in miracles :oafter hearing that the baby was completely unharmed! How is that possible?

Yeah I don't know, these things have brakes for a reason

I commute through Dublin every morning and the things I see pig ignorant parents doing with prams and buggys is shocking, things like parking themselves on the curb with the pram half sticking out into the road while they wait for the lights to change.

Wait 'til you have your own kids, dude, and you'll see how tough it is to keep a constant watch on them 18 hours a day, every day, for years on end :)

Was probably strapped into the pram and ended up dangling over the ballast while the train whistled by overhead. Kids are much more flexible than adults and offer a smaller target. Cool video all the same.

Personally, I think this story tops the falling pram one. I hope the kids parents sent one hell of a thank-you note to the folks who made that car seat.

Sorry the only thing this proves is that trains have enough space between the bottom of the floor and tracks to fit a baby facedown...the real 'miracle' here is that mum wasnt squished! - unbelievably close timing..any stuntman would be proud :)

Yeah. I'm proud of her! Bloodly good reasoning under the circumstances.

i just love how christians go on about miracles happening in cases like the baby in australia as proof of god's existence and yet they conveniently turn a blind eye to the countless deaths of innocent children around the world every day!!!

The title on this thread is daft, 'more proof god exists'?? what about 'any' proof that god exists? One non-dead lucky child, big woop. I wonder how many other 'innocent' babies died yesterday? Load of hooey.

    Oh snap bada bing!

I just find it hilarious that she jumped away from the train instead of diving down to try and save her baby.

The title is sarcastic. Reading the original post should make that pretty clear.

Not quite what I'm saying. I just find it amusing when people's rosy views of a movie-like world are so thoroughly shattered. Most people, if given this scenario as a hypothetical, would say they'd do everything they can to save the baby, even if it meant they'd be in danger. Few, I would imagine, would answer "I'd lunge forward but then back off suddenly when the train got close".

As for the mechanics of the situation, I'd say what happened was that the stroller absorbed most of the impact and was pushed along the track rather than being crushed beneath it. The train was stopping at that platform anyway I think, so it was going quite slowly anyway.

Why the hell does the train platform slope onto the track? :pac:

    Seriously!

    The Devil did it!

Seriously? I suspect some designer or builder didn't want puddles forming on the platform when it rained, which is another health hazard. There are better ways of dealing with that, of course, such as sloping it back towards a drain.
