Any tips for a good independent garage in Bray to service a 03 Skoda Fabia and a 05 Mondeo?

Anyone used A+ Service Centre on Boghall road?

What would we expect to pay for this? Is €200 per car reasonable?

    Thanks!

all depends... what service is required on each car??....

As per manufacturing guidelines, depending on the mileage, certain additional items need to be completed.

200eur for ordinary service sounds a lot. I got serviced my fiat in dealers garage in wicklow for 140eur, and old ford focus for 120eur in some garage in Dublin.

An 85 year old friend of mine left his 2001 Nissan Almera with 33k into a Nissan Dealer not a million miles from Bray for a service. Went to collect it, bill €937. They quoted him around €200. Replaced front discs, pads all round, brake fluid and only cleaned the air filter. Never rang him for authorisation to change the extra items.

Be clear what you are getting done and always ask the garage to contact you if there is going to be additional costs.

Hi, my name is Darren and I am actually one of the owners of A +. The cost of servicing has come down a lot but when comparing garage prices it is very important to know exactly what you are getting for your money.

Many garages advertise services for €99 or something similiar. It is important to mention that this is what was normally just called an oil change. Nowadays, it includes a brief inspection of the car as well. (This can also be called an A Service). This is fine as long as you know that it all you are getting. A full service includes the oil change, air filter change, spark plugs (petrol car) or Fuel Filter (Diesel car/van) and an inspection. If you are getting a full service this normally takes 1.5 to 2 hrs to do it properly. Any less and the job is not being done thoroughly enough.

We have had to explain to customers the difference. Another important factor to consider is the oil that the car uses. In an effort to keep prices down, many garages are using a lesser grade oil than is recommended by manufactuers. For example, both of the cars above will require 05W30 Semi synthetic oil.. If they dont get this grade oil then the other oil may clog oil ways and not lubricate parts of the engine correctly. When thinking about it you could equate it to putting the wrong blood into yourself.

If you have any queries we would love to talk to you about it.
