    Have you tried,

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/

    ?

    My personal input.... I had a 17" laptop and now I have a higher spec 15" model.

    You really don't notice any difference....movies, game, music etc

    Look at getting the resolution up not the screen size.

    Dont blow the money all on a laptop just because you have it, get a laptop that has what you need. You can get plenty of powerful, fast, high memory and long lasting laptops very cheap nowadays for in and around €700. Laptops aren't bought for gloating, they're for your needs.

    What will you be planning do on this laptop?

    Online Gaming
    Word / Excel
    Ripping / Burning DVD's
    Downloading Files
    Music / Video Editing
    Phone Editing

    I suggest this at least:

    Above 2Ghz Dual Core CPU
    Above 3GB of RAM
    At least 250GB Hard Drive
    At least 256MB Graphics
    At least 5 Hours Battery
    Wireless B/G/N Card

    EDIT: And look at this now.
    Acer Aspire 5810T-944G32Mn Timeline Laptop

    * Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo SU9400 1.4 GHz
    * RAM - 4 GB (installed) 8 GB (max) - DDR3 SDRAM
    * Hard Drive - 320 GB
    * Operating System - Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium
    * Screen - 15.6 in TFT active matrix 1366 x 768 24-bit (16.7 million colours)
    * Optical Drive - DVD±RW (±R DL) / DVD-RAM
    * Graphics - Intel GMA 4500MHD
    * Bluetooth - Yes
    * Notebook Camera - Integrated - 1 Megapixel
    * Warranty - 1 year warranty
    * Battery - 9 Hour Battery Life

    €800 with a free upgrade to Windows 7 next week.

    That's a nice system, cheers for the input lads. I'd but it tomorrow but i'd prefer a larger screen. I've a 15.4 now and i've generally found it to be a little smallish.

    I'm gonna make a purchase fairly soon and i appreciate the input, i'll update the thread with my final options

    4 gig of RAM is pretty pointless unless you are running a 64 bit OS, which in itself poses its own problems (software/driver support)

    You should be able to get a machine for around the 6-7 hundred euro mark that does what you need it to do and save the rest for a rainy day.

    Fairly decent machine,But the graphics are pretty crap TBH,For the money the OP could definitely get some kind of dedicated graphics card.

    I've narrowed the search down to two options

    Option 1

    Option 2

    First, the general recommendation here on boards is not to buy of laptopsdirect.

    Secondly, the Fujitsu is let down by a weak processor and the Sony is let down by a weak graphics card (also it's a refurb which means it's bad value overall imo).

    I've seen much better specs on Dell recently for the same kind of money. Their site is down now (they seem to have become less reliable since the move to Poland) but still worth looking at if bang for buck is important to you. I'd recommend looking at the Vostro range.
