I've multiroom comprising of a Sky+HD box and a 10 year old standard Sky box. I got multiroom in October 2008 when I upgraded to HD and put the old standard sky box in the kid's playroom. I left a 'temporary' phone line to facilitate installation but ripped it out a few days later. I still have the phone line connected to the Sky+HD box for Sky Box Office. In a that space of time, I've never had any contact from Sky in relation multiroom/callback issues. Maybe I've just been lucky....................

In the (almost) 12 months since I've had multiroom, I've never had any contact from Sky in relation to the disconnected box.

Hope you have no urgent requirement. I received this email yesterday...........

Thanks for registering to upgrade to a Sky+HD box.

    What happens next

We've had a huge response to our new prices, with lots of customers registering to upgrade and we're working through each registration in turn.

At the moment, we expect that you'll be able to complete your order and arrange installation in around 3 months. We appreciate this might seem like a long time but we are working as fast as we can to get you set up as soon as possible.

The good news is there’s no need for you to do anything else for now, your place is reserved and we’ll handle everything for you from here.

    * We’ll send you a regular email to let you know how your registration is progressing.
    * If you want to track your registration more frequently or find answers to any questions you may have, you can do this simply using My Sky.
    * We’ll let you know as soon as you’re able to complete your order and choose an installation date, so you won’t need to call us
    * When you come to order, you'll have the chance to change your selection, without having to re-register

We’ll be in touch again soon with an update on your registration.

    Regards,

    The Sky Team

Cheapo - don't hold your breath. We have heard abselutely nothing about this since we last posted about it and back then Sky were saying by the end of October. As soon as we know, you'll know :)

Crosstownk - You're lucky. People normally get warning letters and if they don't connect all boxes to phone lines, the full package sub is direct debited for each box in the household. Long may it last says you :)

Mallet Head - Spare yourself the wait and go to your local agent :)

Alot of Shopping Centres have a Sky Kiosk, go to one of them. Or look in your locals papers classified section or yellow pages etc and you'll find someone there. At the moment Local Agents are installing as soon as you get your viewing card ( within seven days ) and swapouts are done normally within five days.

Also, by going to a Local Agent, you are keeping most the business in Ireland.

Apologies. Anyhoot, I went to Liffey Valley today and Francis (a guy:) ) on the booth could not have been more helpful. Not only is my sky HD coming next Monday but he saved me €40 by not going via sky in cork.

Ringing sky direct was costing me €130 but I'm now getting box and installation for €89.

    Thanks again wizard.

    Just an update on this.

True to his word Francis in liffey valley came up with the goods.

2 lads from Interactive Media came out and done a super job on the installation, Would highly recommend taking this route for sky rather that the 3 months sky direct wanted.

Thanks again folks for all the advice.
