5th Generation iPod Problem

I've had my 5th generation iPod for about 3 years. It's 30gb if that makes a difference and Windows Format.

A few days ago, when I was listening to music, the songs started sounding 'jumpy.' At first I thought it was the headphones so I bought a new pair but the problem remained, and the headphones work fine on my mam's iPod nano.

So is it simply a case of normal wear and tear and it's life is up or could I get it repaired?

First thing to try would be a reset. Hold down the menu and centre button or about 6 seconds. Of that doesn't work. Throw it back into iTunes and restore it. Be careful doing this as it will wipe all your music on it but that won't be a problem if you have all your music I'm iTunes aswell.

Re-Sync it, i noticed my 6G Classic does this the odd time if i dont "eject" it fully. Wait untill the "safe to unplug" bar fully goes down and the ipod starts as normal before plugging out the USB.

If that fails, try a reset and then worst comes to worst a reformat.

Last night I shut down the laptop but had forgotten to "disconnect" my 5th gen ipod, consequently the "Do Not Disconnect" warning remained on the screen and nothing I did would remove it/turn the ipod off. In the end I had to leave it and go to bed....any idea what "damage" failing to disconnect correctly may have done? Thanks
