    Hi All
I have just joined boards as a member "this is my first post" and have enjoyed reading and learning from a lot of the members threads over the last number of months.

I am 34 years old and have always been sporty and active. I have been running for the last 16 months and love it, unfortunetley I have had a number of running breaks in that time which were out of my control. This has especially been the case for the last 3months with my weekly milage over this time varying from a frustrating 0miles to 30miles. I am now at the point where I can commit my self to getting back on track icon7.gif

Prior to this I was consistently running 30-40miles/week with a race once a week if I could find one. Over this time I had gotten my times consistently down. The improvement in times is mainly down to the fact that I wasnt as fit as I though I was at the start!

    5miles 33:45- 29:30
    10K 43:45 - 36:50
    10miles "completed 3 * 10milers, all have been around 62mins"

All my training has been done "One Paced", I never vary speed and on a typical week I would run maybe 5 * 7-8 milers.

With most of the road racing season over I know this is the time of the year where you put in the hard work in for next year. Im hoping that this will help me get my 10mile times down and would love to have a crack at a marathon in Autumn 2010.

Could someone offer any advice and maybe encouragement on how best to improve 10K times?. I know the strategy I have used to-date has worked well but I would like to try and improve the quality of the training I could do and improve my times.

    Thanks

I can't help you there, I've never followed a specific 10km training plan myself. Your times are impressive. You'll get lots of help here hopefully but if I were you, I'd join a club. You have great potential if you completed all of that time running at the same speed with no speed/track work in the mix. Best of luck.
