    Hello

With these new TV's having the freeview tuner will you now be able to record different channels from different freeview stations at the same time..

my gut say no as its just replacing the box of electronics but thought I'd ask anyway...

Freeview is UK terrestrial, do you mean Freesat?

Yes I suppose I mean freesat...essentially will I be able to hook the satellite feed to my telly without the box...and will this then allow me to record multiple sat channels....

    Thanks

Only if your TV has a hard drive and I don't think there are too many of those.

The general way of things seems to be to have a seperate sat receiver with a hard drive. The TVs with built in receivers will be limited if/when technology changes - you won't want to throw out your TV just because you need to do something funky with the receiver.

Indeed, the current Tv's with built in Freesat do not have recoring capability yet as it needs two sat tuners so you can watch one program while recording another.

Though with the introduction of iplayer, we'll have the opportunity to watch programmes at will so it may do away with hard drive recorders at some point. While I'm no fan of RTE, being able to watch programmes like David McWilliams current "Addicted to money" when I want to is a major plus. I'm currently accessing iplayer on my pc but with the introduction of tvs with internet accessibility, programmes will be available on demand in the not so distant future.

However, if you live in the south of Ireland I doubt you can pick up FreeView? This is a UK operated signal, and as far as I know you can't pick it up here - I have a freeview tuner in my panasonic Viera but when I tried to tune it I got nothing!!
