Finishing Arts Degree (Irish + history); going abroad

So I finish my arts degree at the end of the year school. Im thinking of either going abroad for a year and just work....somewhere in Europe., OR cotinuing to study somewhere somehow in some university.
How would it work? could I do a year of my 'postgrad' abroad and then come back and finish it here or would i have to stick at it.
How easy is it to apply for postgrad studies like that abroad? is it expensive.

Is working abroad/taking a break from study a better idea or a cheaper idea. Is it easy enough to do without any real contacts/language.
