I'm putting a car back on the road after a restoration. It's last NCT was due in June 2008. If I get it tested this month, is it only going to be valid until June '10?

Yep, you cannot gain by delaying a test. Always due on date of first registration & on a 2 yearly cycle

Bah!...thats annoying....I'd rather just pay them 100 quid now and get a test for 2 1/2 years than have to go back in 6 months!

I could understand you wanting to get a test for a full 2 years but wanting one for 2 1/2 years is abit OTT.

Ah yeah only messing. I think the fairest way would be that if it goes over a year since its out of date then you get the full 2 years when its tested, so if I got mine done it would be to June '11.

You could always wait til june 2010 then get a full 2 years!

If you delay it for two years you can skip a cycle so you can gain that way.

Just wait six months and then nct it and you will have an nct for two years
