Today is breast health day!

It may be worth all us ladies using it as a reminder to breast check today and more regularly. I found my lumps by pure accident at age 37 with no family history - don't let that happen to you. Early detection is the single most important factor in successful treatment.

How about a roll-call of all who check? Do it today!

Details on Breast Awareness from the Irish Cancer Society here and a YouTube video showing an examination and what to look out for here

Mods - I know that this gets discussed in the Bits & Bobs thread but reckon its important enough today for own thread.

    I just had my feel!!

I had a lump before, which after a biopsy was done was shown to be just hormonal changes...

    Thankfully

Make sure the rest of you get your feel in today!

I didn't check my boobs today because my ob-gyn did on Tuesday. But unless you have a good excuse like me, check your boobs ladies! I too have had some hormonal lumps and it's best to find those (if you have them) and get them checked ASAP.

Afternoon all, after seeing the doc this morning, She had a good auld feel and said she can feel something there which she thinks is congestion  but prescribed evening primrose oil for 6 weeks and said if its not gone after then we`ll go for a scan!!

Was so nervous going in but she really calmed me down even though that genetic breast cancer thing runs in the family, said not to worry about it and even I know its easier said than done but Im really calm about it now.

    Lets hope it works :)

Thanks for this thread the other day . . . I always forget to do a self check, and since my mother had breast cancer, I should get in the habit of being more diligent about it.

I did remember yesterday, and made sure to have a check. For anyone who can't/didn't see the youtube link above, here's the proper way to do a Breast Self Exam.

That's good news princess - let's hope that will be the end of it - and when you close this particular chapter keep up the regular checks.
