    Im sure its been said on here a few times ?!? but for those who are looking for a snare mic....

    Beyer M201 :eek: I really got a shock totally knocked a 57 out of the water....

    before you think im talkin' *hite try one (if ya can find one)

    I've been using one of those for about a year now on snare and I love it. They are super reasonable as well.

    The 201 can take freakishly large SPLs in it's stride and keeps it's clarity.
    I have also got great results with it on a guitar amp.

    i got one for snare as well, but its mainly on the hats now ,

    if you check out my myspace - /tonyjbrennandrums the drum video and the black cat bone tracks use an m201 on snare.

    i prefer the audix i5 on a snare for most stuff.

    that siad - the 57 is still a great snare mic.
