    Greetings,

I tried to recover my notebook using the original product recovery dvd.

Booted from the dvd . . . grand.

Asked me about losing my data I say ok (had everything backed up)

    Now I get this message:
Failed to initialise the raid class.
    No RAID - continue normally . . .
    x:\windows\system 32>_

    and nothing happens after this

    Any thoughts?

Does your laptop have two hard-drives, and have you removed one? Or altered the partitions on either drive?

Some of those recovery discs are pure useless and don't work if all the partitions etc are not 100% as they expect.

Also, maybe go into the bios menu (you'll get a prompt how to get there when you turn it on, one of the F keys) and see if RAID is enabled or disabled. Maybe toggle it and give the recovery disc another go.

Just the one hard drive, Toshiba replaced the hard drive for me about a year ago, is there any chance that the partition wasn't on the new one?

Went into the BIOS and can't see RAID anywhere. The system is detecting the hardware alright.
