Hello guys. my broadband speed is killing me... i got 6 mb UPC cable broadband. i used to get very good download speed but 1-2 weeks ago i've started getting very unstable speed (i got 3 mb download speed one day, then 1.5 mb afternoon , and 1 mb the other day, somedays it went up to 5 mb :D and at the moment im gettin 80-90 kb p/s...it's really pissin me off) So my question is, is it UPC's fault or is somebody using my internet!? are you by any chance downloading torrents because speeds can vary greatly with torrents

go to this site a do a speed test and post it here

    www.speedtest.net

Dont use speedtest sites. Download a large file from ftp.heanet.ie

I can get a variation of 9mb from different speed tests on a 24mb line. However an ftp download is always about 1.8MB. Which is about 14Mb. Considering my distance from the exchange its what I expect.

Never trust a speedtest site. They are not accurate.

I downloaded a debian iso from HeaNet at 2.49MB/s which converts to 20 megabits per second.
