Um, the page you linked seems really very clear on what you need to do. Find a white wall, get a friend to take the photo and make sure they read the instructions so they know how to frame it. Most of the stuff they warn about there is not likely to happen unless your camera is set up weird. Put it on automatic and you should be good. As for image quality, they don't seem to specify a resolution beyond basically warning that it should not be so low that you can't see all the details properly, so 5MP is absolutely fine.

If you like you can post the result here and we'll tell you if it's up to scratch.

Okay, maybe should have been a bit clearer, how do i get the photo to 600*600 as perscribed without messing with it, manipulating it, etc. The white wall is easy, its getting it into a good condition to upload it with confidence that its not going to effect the application is what i am looking for advice on,

    thanks,

99% of the regulars on the forum here can resize it no problem for you. There are a number of programs freely available though, I use photoshop so I don't know the names of them but I'm sure someone can recommend one for you. There's also some websites where you upload the photo and specify the size you want it changed to.

Resizing does not count as manipulation by the way. It has to be done for this, aint no camera in the world that takes a picture 600 x 600.

You can just send it to me once you've taken it if you like, it'll take all of ten seconds to resize.

Firstly, you'll want to crop the image down to a square size. Then you may need to resize. You can use a free app like Gimp or something. It should be easy to do.

Their website is very detailed and very useful as to how to take your image.
