    Hi

Saw this , Apple have developed their own FM Radio App and are hoping to have tune tagging aswell to allow you then buy the song from iTunes. :D

That would "complete" the iPhone for me as I listen to a lot of radio...

WunderRadio is fine but an app working like the Nano FM radio would be freakin' awesome.

I would pay any money for it... you hear me Apple? ANY MONEY!

Wonder when this might be available, months away or before Christmas...

May all be just a rumour as per normal Apple comms, they have not confirmed it yet... here's hoping though, would be great :)

    Another article - seems promising.

I don't doubt the hardware is there, and now that they've broken the barrier with the Nano maybe it is a reality.

Seems it would involve a software update too, so the way things are going with jailbreaking/unlocking the last update not so good news for non-O2 phone owners.

According to various tech sites, the broadcom chip they use for wifi/bluetooth in the iphone 3G and older ipod touches has the necessary hardware for FM tuner functionality. Newer models (3GS, Touch 3G) apparently have a fancier chip that includes an FM transmitter also. They're also saying that the original iPhone's chip only does wifi, so no FM radio for that.

It's already in the existing firmware :) Well...evidence of it is...
I just opened up WinSCP and navigated to
    /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/English.lproj

Searched some of the strings and found some evidence.
    "com.apple.mobile.radio" "
Also, where it lists all the apps on the Homescreen there was "com.apple.calculatorUClockURadio" Which suggests that the Radio App will be after the Clock app on the Springboard.

I'd love to see the FM tuner activated - if it's there!

Yeah....no doubt it will be an upgrade thus rendering it "unanythingable"

Although it may be worth it
