    Hi all

any help or pointers greatly appreciated.

Where would I find information on the value of the sports industry in Ireland and more specifically the value of the child (say 12-18 yr olds) side of it?

I'm thinking sportswear, sponsorship, advertsing around events/leagues etc??

    FH

Mintel reports and company information of big UK companies and maybe some Irish ones on Datamonitor or equivalent.

If the companies are plc, you should look out for annual AGM reports and the like from said websites.

I've heard (without experiencing this myself) that if you want to get access to these files, it's possible to do so from Enterprise IRELAND ???

That's what I was told anyway so worth a look for yourself. Good luck with it.

I can confirm the above. There is a research library in Enterprise Ireland Glasnevin. You must book in advance by phone and tell them what you are researching. They then do a search for you and if they have what you need you can book in to visit the library and view the material. They are very strict on photocopying, only allowing 10% of any journal, etc.

The whole set up is anti self service, ie you won't be able to do your own search, wander round or browse and if you need a copier, you give them the items to do. Needless to say you can't take anything out with you either.

Nonetheless a useful place for market info esp if doing a business plan, and the Mintel type reports cost a couple of grand otherwise.

Make sure you call first they will turn you away if you just show up. Also you are better saying you are interested in an export market and not just Ireland, they used to be not too keen if you just said you needed Irish info (recommend you to see the local CEB), so say the Ireland and UK or something.
