NTL Loss of Signal

    Hey,

My ntl tv and broadband was working fine and all of a sudden the tv screen changed to Loss of Signal. It asked me to check that the cables at the back of the box were properly connected. They are. Also, my modem isn't working either so I have no internet. I rang UPC and they sent signal to ttry and restart everything but to no avail because apparently my modem was "offline".

Has anyone had similar problems to this and what is usually the cause/fault?

    Thanks.

It's a network issue. They will probably deny this but if both TV and BB are down, there is a network problem.

I had this problem a couple of weeks ago. I live in an apartment block where the cables aren't tagged. Some bright spark NTL technician was sent to the block to disconnect someone who wasn't paying their bill. As he couldn't tell which apartment it was, he disconnected a whole load of apartments including my own. There were 6 of us (at least) on to NTL to arrange call outs to be re-connected. The technician who called to re-connect me and my neighbour said that a technician had accessed the box and disconnected a lot apartments in one go. It was a complete pain in the a** and due to work committments I was unable to get the time-off to be re-conneccted for a week. They are refunding me for the time lost, thankfully, but I insisted.

This may not be anything to do with your problem but that is what caused my 'Loss of Signal' issue.
