Apologies if this is in the wrong forum. ( Mods, please move if so )

I currently have NTL basic package and have my phone and broadband with eircom.
I want to package them together so I can get a cheaper deal.
I currently pay 26eur a month for NTL and approx 60eur for phone and broadband.

The phone usage would be minimal. Only after 1800 and on weekends. Most calls would be to the north.

Sky is not an option as we are not allowed a dish in our complex.

Could anyone with a bit of knowledge reccomend the best suitable package ??

    Thanks ;)

I am in a similar situation and have been looking at a 'pick and mix' of services.

I currently have the NTL/UPC digital package at €26.99 per month and a 3Mb broadband and home phone package from UTV c.€55 p.m.

It seems as though UPC don't go out of their way to accommodate existing customers as far as installation fees go, and their pricing selector is unclear.

For services alone, here's what price I got....

    Digital Max €33.50
    Digital+HD € 7.50
    3Mb BB €22.00
    Home Phone € 5.00
    Anytime Calls €13.00
    TOTAL €81.00

Modem, if needed is a one-off €49.99 charge. Additional phone, if needed is a one-off €25 charge.

Modem is supplied free. You're talking about a wireless router. As far as I can see it depends on what pacakage you want. The value one seems to break down as follows:

Digital value (including analogue) €20 p/m.

    3 Meg BB €22 p/m

    Phone €5 p/m

Freetime world €8 p/m (unlimited landline calls to local, national, and international numbers off-peak)

So the grand total there is €55 p/m. A little bit more than the OP is paying for just telephone/BB at the minute.

If he takes 1 Meg BB it will be even cheaper.

Yes - if he wants he can pay €81 p/m - but it's his choice.;):)

At €81 you're getting almost everything on offer. Not a bad price IMHO.

I'm looking at broadly similar numbers, I'd save a pile if I consolidated, unfortunately UPC don't yet offer BB in my area so I'm stuck with my BT BB service alongside UPC for TV.

When UPC eventually makes BB and HD available in my area I calculate that by consolidating onto UPC BB, I'll be able to add HD and Sky Sports and I'll still be paying less than what I'm paying now. By then hopefully the Vodafone folk will probably be offering me HD TV over the phone wire.

All of which serves to remind me of the disgraceful decision by Mary O'Rourke when she was Minister for Communications to allow Eircom to buy Cablelink, any idiot could see that they would just sit on it and do nothing which is exactly what they did.

I'm not denying that you can get much cheaper than I quoted. The prices I gave are for the packages I would be getting.

I wouldn't necessarily save, but I would be getting HD and Digital+ for roughly the same as I pay now for the UPC Digital Select package & my UTV broadband
