Just saw this: The TA in Britain has been told to stop training for six months to save money. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article6868921.ece

Considering some of the TA is sent overseas and is almost as well trained as the regular army. This is remarkable. The TA might well be a very different animal when this is all over.

But worse still given our propensity for taking note of what the British do and copying it. Does this mean the RDF has no future? With the recruitment ban in place and the likely run down in training that's inevitable. Is this the end or the beginning of the end?

They're not stopping all training, just their regular weekdays and annual camps. They're still training them with the regulars before shipping them out to Afghanistan or wherever.

TBH looks like a case of the UK copying us for a change.
