Court Summons

    Hi all,

Got a court summons for not paying a fixed speeding penalty.

However, I couldn't pay it because the name was misspelled on it and as it didn't match my license.

At the time, I phoned the payment office. First of all, it gave the girl on the other end. Eventually, she told me to wait for the summons and it would be dealt with in court.

Basically, I'm looking to find out what is likely to happen.

1.) Will I be fined and forced to pay the full penalty
2.) Will I be afforded the chance to pay the €80 and get the 2 points
3.) Will the whole thing be quashed because of the administrative error (a la if you don't receive the fixed penalty notice)

I really don't mind paying the fine and getting the points as I was speeding and I should pay the price but I've never been through the Process. Like, will I even need a solicitor?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Gav

Go to a solicitor. Forum charter does not allow for legal advice.

    Thanks,
