Came across the amatuer final of this earlier on Sky. Anybody ever entered, i see there is a qualifying round in Ireland. €250 to enter and you get a bit of clothing and Callyaway bag included.

Caught a bit of it last night and couldn't for the life of me work out what was going on. Golf 20-20-style or something?

Some mad outfits on the go though...

Well from i can make out its regional rounds and then a grand final played over stableford(presume handicaps and shots on hole are in play). The top four players on the day of the final go into a playoff over 3 holes to decide the winner. Not sure if handicaps count or is the play off is over scrath. The four players in the play off had handicaps of 1,2,5,5.
I like the idea because potentially any player with a handicap of 18 or under can enter and be in with a chance of playing on sky sports in a manner similar to a professional

I entered yesterday. UK tour has been full for ages but there are still places left on it Irish leg. I guess it's reasonable value since you get golf, clothing and gear worth at least the value of entry even though you may never wear the hat again.

Yeah, the website is very sketchy.I'd be interested to know what course they're using and what exactly you get for your entry fee.

    All very mysterious thus far!

Yeah thats what I thought, I'd enter then find out the qualifier is in Kerry, ages away! Would have thought the first thing they'd say 'Enter the Irish Qualifier in Druids Glen' or something along those lines...

The course hasn't been announced yet. looking at the courses they used in the UK last year they are all top quality courses. There's a clue as to why low handicappers did well too . 3/4 handicap affects a 4 handicapper by 1 shot but a 16 handicapper has to play off 12.

Below is an email I got in response to my query:

    Hi Jason,
