Front light and basket

Looking for some advice on a front light. The problem is that the bike has a basket so any of the handlebar mounted lights are obscured. I can fit them near the handlebar grip but then they interfere with braking/gear changing. I am looking for something which could be attached to the fork or head tube (under the basket) but also can be released quickly when leaving the bike. As bright as possible with fixed and flashing modes..

    all advice appreciated..

If it's a metal mesh basket you could get this from Minoura. It allows you to attach lights to the basket itself.

I have one of these: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Cateye_EL520_Front_Light/5360025759/ Depending on the type of bike and basket, it migh tbo possible to attach it to the steering tube. This light does not have a flashing function, but its very bright.

The traditional arrangement is to mount the light below the basket like this.

Hub dynamo lights are a nice idea for a baskety sort of bike, but not exactly cheap. Some of these lights can be secured against theft.

Probably something like that with a basket-mounted flasher would do the job.

Depends how much you want to spend.

Or you could buy a fork mount adaptor as in the image below which would allow you to mount any light as per Lumen's suggestion. I know you can get them from this crowd in the US but since I think they're made by Busch and Muller in Germany I suspect they're available closer to home. Ask your local bike shop.

First up, sorry for not reading the entire thread, I know, I know.

If it's just front blinkers you're looking for.......http://www.reelight.com/

They're fitted at the axle, well out of the way. 'Free' light too.

    DFD.
