output levels on NTL recorder box

Anyone know if there is a way to change the output signal levels of an NTL recorder box.
The whites in an outdoor scene are washing out on my plasma tv.. like, they are too bright and lose all definition..
Most of the time things look ok on it.. its just outdoor scenes that are too bright.. some live studio stuff gets blown out too..

So I'm wondering can I attenuate the signal a bit and cool it down?

Alternatively does anyone know of an attentuator I could fit inline on the scart cable?

Would a bad scart cable be causing this?

    Thanks
    Vida

Its not a too strong signal thats causing your problem which decoder box do you have the black or silver

Also which tv are you using?

    Hi Bazzy,
    Its a panasonic TH-42PWD6. Its a 42 plasma.
    Its about 5 years old.
Got it from a friend of mine for very small money.

I got the manual on the web and went through all the settings.. turning down the Input Level does help the overblowing a good bit.. but not enough.

Have frigged around with the contrast and brightness controls for ages.. looked up stuff on the web about how to use those controls properly (learned a lot actually.. so its not all bad)

The NTL box is the Black recorder box. Says UPC Digital media on the front.

I have pretty cheap scart leads in my setup.. would have bought them in eurosaver shops or the like.. dunno would that affect this..
(read something somewhere that described a problen similar to my own and they referred to the whites as being clipped.. like a signal thats not getting ull bandwidth..)
Gonna try the composite video connection instead of the scart.

I would appreciate all and any help you can offer.

    Thanks
    Vida.
